1. a hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air.

I don’t know if geysers ever do actually freeze; perhaps in extremely rare circumstances where the vented hot waters meet bitterly cold temperatures. Nonetheless, this painting was an exploration of the hypothetical phenomenon and the icy protrusion that could build up in its wake. Like frozen waterfalls, I imagine an ice geyser to be a marvelous sight.
