I live in Denver, Colorado now. But my heart remains at least in part on the California coast where I lived for many years and grew up not too far from. My Cup Runneth Over depicts a modern beach house on the northern coast of CA - a partially made-up scene that captures where I at times wished I had been able to spend quarantine. I find the pastel fogs, sweeping yet soft bluffs, and the more rustic architectural styles of the northern coast vs. the southern coast of CA to speak more truly to my heart than any other place on the planet. This scene combines elements from landscapes on Mount Tamalpais near San Francisco, Mendocino (where I was supposed to get married on Sept. 6, but - coronavirus), and Sea Ranch where the reference photo for the driftwood-textured structure was pulled directly from. The linework on the upper left symbolizes the comfort of neighborhood, especially during isolation. Thank you for the reference photo, Blake! My cup truly runneth over when I imagine spending time in this place that fuses treasures from nature and tasteful structure.
