Vernal Fall is an iconic waterfall in California’s Yosemite Valley. Like a lot of Californians I grew up visiting this area; I would identify it as one of the places that made me fall in love with the natural world given the sheer scale of the landscape features and the quiet hush that seems to magnify their majesty. Vernal Falls can only be accessed via hike there so you have to earn your views. The word vernal means “relating to spring”, earning its namesake perhaps because of the verdant plant-life that thrives in the dense mists produced by the powerful falls. The view of Liberty Cap behind the falls is icing on the cake.
