This painting is a study of the Alhambra, in Granada Spain. One of the palace’s famous courtyards is featured, the horse wading through it only a thought experiment. The Hill of Sabika, where the palace was cleared to build the palace in the 1200s, has re-grown its lush overstory in the painting.
